Q: Which browser should I be using?
A: We recommend you view the site using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher. Copies of the latest browsers may be downloaded from the Microsoft. Please refer to browser settings page for detailed information on how to configure your browser.

Q: How can I ensure the colors look right?
A: In order that photography and paint colors can be properly displayed, we strongly recommend your PC or Macintosh is set to display more than 256 colors.

  • On a PC, go to the Windows Start Menu, choose Settings, Control Panels and open the "Display" and click the Properties tab. The section marked Color Palette should display a number greater than 256.
  • On a Macintosh, from the Apple Menu, select "Control Panels" and then "monitors and sound" then check the "color depth"

    Q: What factors affect download time?
    A: Downloading pure text is the fastest process, but providing all the images will cause page to take a little more time. We have optimized our pages for a speedy download. You can check you download speed by:

  • Go to the "Test Bandwidth" menu near the top of this screen.
  • Enter your area code in the text box
  • Check the Unsure button on the connection type
  • Click Go

    You will actually need to run this test several times to get a true picture of your download speed. You will notice that each time you will get a different number. This is normal and is due to the nature of the Internet. The reason is that the path your connection takes on each download may be slightly different for each downloads. The best viewing of this site will be when you have a download speed of 200 kbps or better. This is the type of speed that you should get on a DSL, Cable modem If your download speed is slower it will just take a little longer to download the pages.

    Q: What is Acrobat Reader?
    A: Acrobat Reader is a piece of software which you can easily download onto your machine, and allows you to view and print Acrobat files. Acrobat files are commonly used to display brochures and other such printed material which is less suitable for publication on normal HTML pages.Click Apply and then OK.

    Troubleshooting Section:

    • Check to see if you are using the recommended browser. From within the browser go to the Help menu and then select the About Internet Explorer. This will display a small window that has the version number. Like we said above, it is recommended that it be Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher.

    • If you are having problems viewing the pages correctly it is possible that your browser is caching content even when it is asked not to. If you have problems try the following methods to solve the problem.

    • Your first step should be to hit the Refresh or Reload button in your web browser.

    • If you are still experiencing difficulty then close down your web browser and start it back up again. Log back into the system and see if the problem was resolved.

    • Problems can also be encountered in a network environment such as a proxy server or when your connection passes through another institution on it's way to the Internet. In this case you will need to contact the network supervisor or technology coordinator for assistance on getting the problem resolved.
