Q: Which browser should I
be using?

We recommend you view the site using Microsoft Internet
Explorer version 6.0 or higher. Copies of the latest
browsers may be downloaded from the Microsoft. Please
refer to browser settings page
for detailed information on how to configure your
browser.
Q: How can I ensure the colors
look right?
A:
In order that photography and paint colors can be properly
displayed, we strongly recommend your PC or Macintosh
is set to display more than 256 colors.
On a PC, go to the Windows Start
Menu, choose Settings, Control Panels and open the "Display"
and click the Properties tab. The section marked Color
Palette should display a number greater than 256.
On a Macintosh, from the Apple Menu,
select "Control Panels" and then "monitors
and sound" then check the "color depth"
Q: What factors affect download
time?
A:
Downloading pure text is the fastest process, but
providing all the images will cause page to take a
little more time. We have optimized our pages for
a speedy download. You can check you download speed
by:
Go to the "Test Bandwidth"
menu near the top of this screen.
Enter your area code in the text
box
Check the Unsure button on the connection
type
Click Go
You will actually need to
run this test several times to get a true picture
of your download speed. You will notice that each
time you will get a different number. This is normal
and is due to the nature of the Internet. The reason
is that the path your connection takes on each download
may be slightly different for each downloads. The
best viewing of this site will be when you have a
download speed of 200 kbps or better. This is the
type of speed that you should get on a DSL, Cable
modem If your download speed is slower it will just
take a little longer to download the pages.
Q: What is Acrobat Reader?
A:
Acrobat Reader is a piece of software which you can
easily download onto your machine, and allows you
to view and print Acrobat files. Acrobat files are
commonly used to display brochures and other such
printed material which is less suitable for publication
on normal HTML pages.Click Apply and then OK.
Troubleshooting Section:
- Check to see if you are using
the recommended browser. From within the browser go
to the Help menu and then select the About Internet
Explorer. This will display a small window that has
the version number. Like we said above, it is recommended
that it be Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher.
- If you are having problems
viewing the pages correctly it is possible that your
browser is caching content even when it is asked not
to. If you have problems try the following methods to
solve the problem.
- Your first step should be
to hit the Refresh or Reload button in your web
browser.
- If you are still experiencing
difficulty then close down your web browser and
start it back up again. Log back into the system
and see if the problem was resolved.
- Problems can also be encountered
in a network environment such as a proxy server
or when your connection passes through another institution
on it's way to the Internet. In this case you will
need to contact the network supervisor or technology
coordinator for assistance on getting the problem
resolved.
